The Bakota statue, originating from the Kota people (Gabon, Congo, DRC), embodies spiritual power and ancestral memory. Adorned with copper and brass plates, it reflects the importance of metal in funeral rites and the protection of sacred relics.
These statues, also called Bakota reliquaries, were placed on baskets containing the remains of ancestors, in order to honor them and seek their blessing. With its refined geometric forms and metallic sheen, the statue symbolizes both strength, the continuity of lineage, and the invisible presence of guardian spirits.
Every detail, from the stylized face to the hammered patterns, illustrates an art where aesthetics, spirituality and heritage value are intertwined.
This rare and iconic piece belongs to our Prestige Collection.
