This Zulu shield, from the Heritage Collection, is an iconic piece inspired by one of the most famous warrior peoples of southern Africa.
Zulu shields, once used by the warriors of the kingdom founded by Shaka Zulu, served as both defensive weapons and emblems of prestige. Recognizable by their black and white graphic patterns, they were used as much to intimidate the enemy as to identify clans during battles.
This circular design with a spiral motif is more symbolic than functional. Its hypnotic composition conveys vital energy, protection, and the perpetual movement of life.
